Cruise Pine Island Sound to Captiva
Boat rentals for Captiva start at our Cape Coral marina. Captiva sits north of Sanibel on the Gulf side of Pine Island Sound, and by car you reach it through Sanibel. By boat, you cross the sound and see the islands from the water. Delivery by a captain is another option to ask about if your rental has a dock.
How Captiva Boat Days Work
You meet a licensed captain at the marina, sign the paperwork and get an area map. After a short safety video, the captain shows you the boat, the Coast Guard required gear and the GPS. Then you're off down the river toward the sound.
Boats go out from 9am and are due back by 5pm. For a long stay, rent by the week or month and keep the boat at our marina between outings.

Things to Do Near Captiva by Boat
Pine Island Sound is sheltered water with flats, mangrove islands and sandbars. Dolphins commonly feed in the sound, so read our notes on dolphin watching and give them room. Beach time and shelling round out the day.
Hungry? Your map shows spots to stop and eat by boat. Waterfront businesses changed a lot after recent storms, so call ahead before you plan lunch around one.
Choosing a Boat for Pine Island Sound
A Captiva island boat rental carries GPS navigation, a swim ladder, a Bluetooth stereo and the Coast Guard required equipment, including free life jackets and a fire extinguisher. Add beach chairs, mats, tubes or an umbrella from the accessories list, and pick up ice, snorkel gear or a captain's hat at the Ships Store before you go. And if a boat has a problem, we keep backup boats.

- Tritoon rentals ride on three tubes for a steadier deck.
